This aptly named program is what almost every candidate asks themselves before filing to run for office, but you don’t have to file to attend this valuable training.

Consider this…

Here is a program that will show you how to USE YOUR BUSINESS EXPERIENCE TO ENCOURAGE PRO-BUSINESS POLICIES AS A FUTURE PUBLIC LEADER

• Here is a program that provides you the freedom to explore whether public leadership is right for you
• Here is a program that will then prepare and position you to transition from where you are to where you can confidently step into the starting line of a new leadership moment

We’re encouraged and honored by your interest in our upcoming inaugural 2025 Political Leadership Development Program: “If Not You, Who?”.

The program’s purpose is to “build the bench” of business-experienced, prospective, elected and appointed leaders in Lake County. These leaders will be able to draw on their real-world business experience, skills and talent to fulfill LAKE100’s mission to “promote economic growth, enhance cultural and civic engagement and improve the overall quality of life,” for all Lake County residents.

Specifically, you’ll be introduced to proven strategies that will guide you
on how to:

• define your difference and where you can make it
• overcome common obstacles to engagement
• elevate your public visibility in order to boost your credibility
• create momentum quickly with key political strategies
• and engage supporters, but also prepare and protect your family

Strategies will be taught in an active-learning NON-PARTISAN workshop format over FOUR individual DAYS over FOUR MONTHS. Each one-day session will run from 8:30am to 4pm with a working lunch provided, and will include small-group discussions, projects, and simulated scenarios.

Upon submission of your application, confirmed eligibility, and payment of your $250.00 enrollment fee, there is still no commitment required for any participant to run for office or pursue an appointment. Also, while this program is not a traditional campaign school for declared candidates, political strategies will be discussed, along with how YOU can best support and share your influence for the benefit of Lake County, our citizens, your kids, and even their grandkids.

“If Not You, Who?” requires an application. All applications received by January 30 will be reviewed by committee and attendees will be notified of their eligibility by February 3^rd, 2025.

Course dates are ONE DAY PER MONTH, on Thursday, February 13, 2025; Thursday, March 13, 2025; Thursday, April 10, 2025, and Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 8:30 – 4:00PM, on each day.

Classes will take place at the Venetian, with the room to be announced.

The $250 enrollment fee for this program is non-refundable and attendance is expected at all four sessions. No prorated fee is available, and absences will simply result in missed information, with an opportunity to partner with a classmate to share notes. The enrollment fee is due by the first class date and payment may be made at the first session prior to course commencement.
